Watch Out! It’s Grasssss! Our Funniest Real Estate Stories and Bloopers.

Categorized under: Just For Fun // Published on March 2nd, 2011

Buyer in Media, PAThe First Hop

We have had our share of buyers that have had some strange needs. But, one of our funniest was a man who really had a fear of grass, yes, plain old grass. The first time I noticed this he hopped over the patch of grass between the curb and sidewalk. Not stepping over, an actually full fledged bunny hop. My first instinct was to laugh since I thought he was somehow trying to be funny. But, with the serious look on his face, I decided to keep quiet. As I was showing him the house I started to feel better since other than the hop I just witnessed, he seemed very normal.

Walking A Thin Line Between Car and Home

When we arrived at the next property, he did the same thing! Okay, now my curiosity was peaked but I still kept quiet. I walked up to the front door not paying any mind to the narrow walkway through the front yard. When I turned to talk to him, he was only a few feet from the sidewalk and looked like someone that was forced out on a tight rope!

Does Your Listing Have Grass?

I had to ask. Are you alright? He looked at me and said from now on, I needed to find listings with no or very little grass. Do you know how difficult it is to find a residential property with ‘no grass’! From that point on, I would call each and every listing agent to find out how much grass was on the property. Talk about a conversation starter with my peers!

Needless to say, I found him a very large twin house with a private asphalt driveway, a concrete ‘back yard’, and a wide front walkway. It just goes to show you that there is a home for every buyer.

Gourmet Pizza in Media, PAThe Shirley Booth Team had a night out on Saturday. Yes, we love to spend time with each other outside of work! We made reservations at the new Ariano’s in Media, PA.

Great Food!

Ariano’s menu is mainly authentic Italian gourmet pizza. There are alot pizzas to choose from and we have to tell you, it was delicious! They also serve homemade Italian ice cream which made the experience even better. It is a BYOB so don’t forget your wine!

Great Atmosphere!

The atmosphere was terrific with an array of clientele from families, to couples, to friends, all of which seem to be having a great time. We saw one young couple with a baby that seemed to really enjoy the romantic setting having dinner with a bottle of wine while their baby slept quietly.

Great Service!

Ariano’s seems like the new hip place to go in Media, PA! I would suggest making reservations, they were very busy. The service was wonderful. The wait staff really has their work cut out for them. Especially if they are waiting on the third floor which is accessed by a spiral staircase. Watching them go up and down with trays of food was very entertaining. They did a great job!

Oh Deer! Our Funniest Real Estate Stories and Bloopers

Categorized under: Just For Fun // Published on February 23rd, 2011

A Media, PA BuyerThere are many things that can ‘turn off and/or frighten’ a buyer. Please think long and hard when listing your home. What may be ’normal’ to you, may scare the pants off a buyer….

Don’t Open That!

After seeing a group of home in Media, PA my buyer seem to get excited in a  particular home. After viewing the entire house, we stood in the kitchen discussing the home. As we were talking, I paid no mind to the buyer opening cabinets and drawers. She walked to the refrigerator and opened the freezer. What happened in the next few seconds was a ’first’ for me when showing a home.

A Blood Curling Scream!

A blood curling scream, my heart (and client) on the floor, and a deer head staring back at us.

Needless to say, she was so traumatized…she did not buy this home.

If you do not have the time to visit a taxidermy, don’t store dead animals in the freezer, Please!

Attack Cat! Our Funniest Real Estate Stories and Bloopers

Categorized under: Just For Fun // Published on February 16th, 2011

Attack cat in media, paWe have so many off the wall stories that we decided to submit one a week. So every Wednesday…check back for more!

Our roles as Real Estate Agents are not a boring ones. Here is one of the funniest stories we have experienced (at least we thought so).

Read the Writing on the Wall – ATTACK CAT!

Not All Cats Are Cuddly!

Actually some are better at protecting their surroundings then dogs.

We listed a townhouse that had a very rambunctious cat, and that is putting it lightly. We eventually named him the ‘attack cat’. Of course both the seller and I were very concerned with agents and buyers coming through the house and protecting the cat’s well-being too.

The Compromise.

We decided the best and safest place for him was in the room sized storage area in the basement. We placed very large sign on the door that stated ‘DO NOT OPEN-MEAN CAT’. Needless to say an agent that was showing the home to a buyer paid no attention to the sign.

Didn’t You See The Sign?

As soon as that stupid question left my mouth I could almost feel the agent’s attempt to climb through the phone and strangle me.  To make a long story short….they spent the next hour trapped in the basement by the cat that was perched on the basement steps. If they went even remotely close to those steps the cat hissed, growled, and swiped at them.

Thankfully, the seller came home and freed them.

And yes, surprisingly, they bought the house. (I guess they really liked the basement!)
